The 2000 hp PRI/EMD GP20C-ECO locomotives feature a lot of new components: frame, fuel tank, long hood, snoot nose, cab, 8-710G3A prime mover and AC alternator/rectifier – with Canadian Pacific providing trucks and alternator from retired CP GP9s – making these engines a “remanufacture” rather than. “rebuild”. Canadian Pacific GP20C-ECO 2278, seen at Bensenville Yard, was built by Progress Rail Industries/Electro-Motive Diesel in June 2014, and it is in CP class DRS-20. (Franklin Park, Illinois – September 26, 2021). Thanks to John Witthaus for corrections to my original caption, providing better-researched information on the remanufacturing of these locomotives!
